We love to hear about allergy-friendly food companies! Recently we had the opportunity to sit down with one for an interview! Here is our interview with Big Green Organic Foods: Millet Pasta!

Tell us a little about your company and your aim to provide allergy-friendly services/products.

Eating healthy should not be a privilege. At Big Green Organic Foods, we are purveyors of fine organic, gluten-free, grains, pasta, flour, herbs, and berries. We hope all our efforts will bring people organic and natural foods for health and wellness.

Big Green Organic Food works with farms untouched by chemicals and pesticides to bring you non-GMO, certified organic, gluten-free foods created and packaged in facilities that have never processed wheat, rye, or barley products. For our pasta, we combined the traditional Italian technique and Ancient Asian ingredients. We also low-dry and produce small batches of our pasta at a low temperature to preserve the nutrients.

Big Green Organic Food is committed to preserving the organic nature and integrity of the brand. We believe real healthy organic food should only have three or less ingredients, therefore our organic products are mostly made with single ingredients. Before launching a new product, we are heavily involved in the development process by personally tasting and experimenting with the texture. We bring the values, heritage, and traditions of the East and introduce them to the modern and fast-paced Western countries.

Tell us about your products!

We offer single ingredient organic millet pasta. We do not mix with any other ingredients or any binding agents. Only 100% Organic Millet Flour. We made these millet pastas so that people who are allergic to wheat/rice can enjoy pasta again!

What inspired your company?

In 2010, inspired by a question asked by the founder’s wife, “why don’t you use what you learned from college to promote organic products?”, we started to work closer with organic farms, producers, and suppliers. Since 2017, we have collaborated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where the founder earned a graduate degree, to research the functional characteristics of the organic ingredients we use. Our intent is to share the scientific research data with consumers and develop healthy and functional foods. We hope all our efforts will bring people organic and natural foods for health and wellness.

As an allergy-friendly company, what steps do you take to be allergy-friendly?

Yes! Our factory does not produce any products that contain gluten, wheat, egg, nuts, and dairy. Food allergies are on the rise among children in America. We need to make sure that the food we eat are as clean as possible.

Anything else you would like to share that we did not ask?

We are currently developing more millet products, as we had gotten requests from people from the lectin-free community that our millet products had been a pantry stable for them. We are excited to learn how our products can help the FPIES community as well!
